Ngorongoro Crater Lodge is currently closed for an extensive rebuild, with reopening announced for 2027. Its crater-rim location remains the basis of its appeal, but a current safari needs an operating alternative unless the completed lodge and dates have been confirmed.
We retain this page for travellers researching the property and planning ahead. The previous lodge was known for ornate interiors and crater views; those historical photographs and descriptions should not be treated as a promise of the rebuilt accommodation.

Accommodation
Before the rebuild, the lodge had 30 suites across North, South and Tree camps. The final room inventory, layouts and facilities of the rebuilt property should be confirmed once completed specifications are available. We do not quote the former suite arrangement as the current bookable product.
Food & drink
The former lodge offered dining within its individual camps and private arrangements. Dining spaces and services for the rebuilt lodge require confirmation before they can be included in a future proposal.
What to do
A future stay would be planned around the Ngorongoro Crater and highland setting, subject to the reopened lodge’s services and park arrangements. For travel during the closure, we choose an operating lodge and confirm crater drives as part of that itinerary.

For travel during the rebuild, compare Entamanu or Lemala Osonjoi instead. For a future stay, confirm the reopening and completed room specifications before arranging the wider northern circuit. Ngorongoro is best planned alongside the Serengeti, with enough time for a dedicated crater excursion.
