Accommodation

Rooms

Accommodation consists of eight tent-style suites, including one family suite, making Chem Chem well geared to younger travellers and ideal for families of all sizes. All tents are spaced well apart and raised above ground level and are accessed along wooden walkways. Bedrooms feature double or twin beds, bedside tables and lighting, a standing fan, two storage trunks, a tea-and-coffee station, plus a separate seating area. En-suite facilities comprise flush toilet, twin washbasins, a freestanding bathtub with shower attachment plus an outside shower. Every suite also has a private veranda from where you can spot the local wildlife.

Activities

Alongside game drives, the private concession allows guided walks, sundowners and other slow-safari experiences. Access to Tarangire and Lake Manyara can be incorporated depending on the length and shape of the stay.

We would allow three nights when Chem Chem is intended as a proper part of the safari. Leave time for the concession and the lodge itself instead of filling every day with a long park excursion. Is Chem Chem inside Tarangire National Park?

No. Chem Chem Lodge is on a private concession between Tarangire and Lake Manyara. Park visits can be incorporated, but we plan the driving and activities around the actual lodge location.

Is Chem Chem the same as Little Chem Chem?

No. They are separate properties with different settings and styles. We make the lodge name explicit in your itinerary and compare the options around the experience you want.

How many nights would you suggest at Chem Chem?

Three nights is a useful starting point for a slower stay. With less time, we would be careful about combining concession activities and lengthy park excursions without leaving time to enjoy the lodge.

Can Chem Chem be combined with Ngorongoro and the Serengeti?

Yes. It can form the first safari stay in a northern circuit, followed by Ngorongoro and the Serengeti. We choose the Serengeti camp for your travel month and allow for the transfers between stops.

Who should consider a different Tarangire camp?

If you want the emphasis on game drives within Tarangire throughout your stay, compare Kuro or another lodge inside the park. Chem Chem is more compelling when its concession setting and slower pace are part of the attraction.
