About Grumeti Serengeti River Lodge

Grumeti Serengeti River Lodge is an intimate, luxurious retreat tucked away in a secluded corner of the western Serengeti, overlooking a river rich with hippos and abundant wildlife. Offering front-row seats to some of Africa’s greatest natural spectacles, this lodge combines world-class comfort with an authentic atmosphere.

Nestled within the remote Grumeti region, the lodge has been thoughtfully designed to reflect the vibrant spirit of Africa while maintaining a close connection with the surrounding wilderness. The architecture blends naturally with the environment, using organic shapes, bright textiles and open-air spaces that invite the outside in. With a strong focus on personalised service, conservation and genuine warmth, Grumeti Serengeti River Lodge offers an unforgettable, immersive stay far from the crowds.

Accommodation

Rooms

The lodge has ten suites, including one family suite, overlooking a tributary of the Grumeti River. Each has a private plunge pool and outdoor space, with generous en-suite facilities. The family category adds a separate sleeping arrangement, so we confirm its bedroom and occupancy details for your party. This is lodge-suite accommodation rather than the older tented-camp layout.

Dining at Grumeti Serengeti River Lodge is a relaxed and refined experience, celebrating fresh ingredients and African flavours with a modern twist. Every meal is a journey of taste, carefully prepared by talented chefs to enhance the sense of place and occasion.

What to do

Activities

Game drives explore western Serengeti wildlife, including resident predators and seasonally moving herds. The river setting rewards birdwatching and time watching wildlife from the lodge. A gym, shared lodge pool and the suites’ private plunge pools provide options between outings. Balloon flights and other additional experiences require separate arrangements; migration river crossings cannot be guaranteed.

Planning your stay

How Grumeti Serengeti River Lodge fits your journey.

Three nights is a useful starting point for western Serengeti wildlife and time beside the river. For a wider safari, Ngorongoro adds a distinct crater landscape. A northern Serengeti camp can complement the west when the season warrants it, but two camps are worthwhile only if there is enough time to enjoy both.

The right fit

Would Grumeti Serengeti River Lodge suit you?

Who it suits

Couples and travellers who want suite-style comfort and a river setting within the national park. Private outdoor space makes it worth considering when afternoons at the lodge are part of the holiday.

Things to consider

The Grumeti River is different from the Mara River crossing area. Do not choose a western lodge solely because the itinerary says ‘migration’; location and travel month need to be considered together.

Useful to know

Grumeti Serengeti River Lodge FAQs.

Is Grumeti Serengeti River Lodge beside the Mara River?

No. It is in the western Serengeti beside the Grumeti River. The two river regions are distinct, so we choose between them around your dates and wildlife interests.

Is this the same property as Singita Faru Faru?

No. Grumeti Serengeti River Lodge is an &Beyond property; Faru Faru is a Singita lodge in the private Grumeti Reserve. Similar river names should not obscure the different locations.

What is distinctive about the accommodation?

The suites combine river views with private decks and plunge pools. We check the precise room layout and any family arrangement rather than assume every suite is interchangeable.

Can it be combined with Zanzibar?

Yes. We arrange the Serengeti flight and Zanzibar transfer around available schedules, allowing enough time at the lodge before the beach extension.
