Lemala Kuria Hills occupies a rocky setting in the Wogakuria Hills of the northern Serengeti, within reach of the Mara River. It combines substantial suite accommodation with access to a landscape that supports resident wildlife as well as the seasonal migration. Granite kopjes and broad grassland views are central to its character.
Large boulders help separate the accommodation and form a distinctive backdrop to the main areas. The lounge, bar and dining spaces look over rolling grassland, and the main swimming pool provides somewhere to spend a quieter afternoon. This is a more developed lodge-style stay than a simple mobile camp, with a separate spa tent and ample space for relaxing between drives. The northern setting is particularly relevant for migration-focused trips in the appropriate season, although resident wildlife remains part of the experience. Kogatende Airstrip is around 45 minutes away by road.

Accommodation
The glass-fronted suites combine a sitting area and minibar with a bedroom and spacious bathroom. Bathrooms have a freestanding bath plus indoor and outdoor showers. Private decks include seating, sunbeds and plunge pools overlooking the grassy slopes. The two-bedroom family suite is a separate option: each bedroom has its own bathroom with twin vanities, a walk-in shower and bathtub, while a shared deck has sunken seating and a private plunge pool.
Food & drink
Guests can eat in the interior dining room or on the outdoor terrace, both looking towards the surrounding plains. Individual table service and an à la carte menu distinguish the arrangement from the set-menu format of Lemala’s traditional camps. Dietary requirements can be discussed in advance. Afternoon tea is served before game drives, and sundowners can take place at a rocky viewpoint. Bush dining is another possibility to arrange, rather than an experience assumed for every night.
What to do
Guided game drives explore the northern Serengeti, and balloon safaris can be arranged with an early start and a breakfast after landing. Walking offers a closer look at tracks, plants and smaller details that a vehicle can pass by. Lemala’s walking programme uses a specialist guide and a park ranger; the route is chosen around conditions and interests. Spa time and the lodge pool provide a quieter alternative when you would like a break from driving. Treatments in the separate spa provide a restful afternoon option, especially after several early starts.
Planning your stay
Allow three or four nights for northern Serengeti outings and time to enjoy the suite. A Ngorongoro stop creates a varied northern circuit; a southern or eastern Serengeti camp is useful only if it suits the season and you have enough nights. We avoid building the daily plan around a promised river crossing.
